This October brought some good news from Microsoft. A refreshed range of Office Home & Business products for small and medium enterprises has just been presented. The lifetime license will gain new functionalities, so far reserved for the Office 365 subscription version.
„The new versions clearly indicate Microsoft’s direction. Focusing on application security and continuous visual and layout improvements significantly improves everyday activities. This is also impacted by simplified cooperation in teams and groups – sending information, assigning specific tasks and integration between applications,” emphasizes Jacek Kotynia, Software Business Unit Manager at Senetic.
For the sake of user safety, integrity, and availability of all functionalities, Microsoft requires the latest operating system Windows 10 or Mac OS 10.12 (or newer) and a free Microsoft account. As far as hardware is concerned, access to the internet connection is necessary (for download and activation), processor of at least 1.6 MHz, 2 GB RAM for the 32 bit version and 4 GB for the 64 bit version, and 4 GB of disk space (for Windows 10) or 10 GB (for Mac OS).
Office Home and Business 2019 offers access to the latest editions of the most popular applications necessary for everyday work: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote. Each of them has many new features and functions:
Word:
- Translator – allows you to easily use translation into any supported language,
- Additional functions to support learning – e.g. text-to-speech – especially useful for students
- Focus mode – allows hiding any additional activities in a specific document and making the work simpler
Excel:
- Timeline – allows generating a series of events in a chronological order,
- Funnel Charts and 2D maps – enables scaling the elements of the presentation and transfer geographic data to the visualization together with 2D maps
Power Point:
- Morph/Zoom/3D – offers the possibility of working with a digital pen, creating dynamic presentations, or adding 3D objects
Outlook:
- A single view on each device – quick and easy preview for the most important mails, groups
- Managing bookings for travelers and pending deliveries thanks to additional bookmarks and calendar integration
- Mentions – indicating the person responsible for a given part of the project by adding „@” and choosing a person from the contact list – for many users it is a favorite function, known from Office 365
The Pro version also has Access and Publisher Licenses (available only on PC). The new releases will also include many additional functions, such as:
- Icons – a library of professional, high-resolution icons, for a better visual effect of the generated documents
- black background – changing the color scheme for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote applications for less eye strain, especially useful for long work
„Office Home and Business 2019 and Office Professional 2019 come in a single version for the most popular operating systems – Windows and Mac OS. They work well with users who are not in favor of the subscription service, but want to use the latest software that supports touch screens or digital pens,” says Jacek Kotynia.
